Living Treasure Nominations Now Being Accepted
Nominations are being accepted through March 1 for the 2019 Living Treasure Awards. The three individuals chosen will be honored at the Living Treasure Award ceremony on May 24 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Race Brook Country Club in Orange. Forms can be found in the Senior Center office.

Classic Movie Friday
The Orange Senior Center will show Raging Bull on March 1 at 1 p.m. as its classic movie of the month. Robert DeNiro stars as Jake LaMotta in a story of a middleweight boxing champion. The film chronicles two decades of his life. Popcorn and soda will be served. Call 203-891-4784 to reserve a seat.

St. Patrick’s Day Cabaret
The Orange Senior Center will celebrate St. Patrick’s Day on March 6 at 1:30 p.m. with music from the Willie & Jan Band. Coffee and dessert will be served. Call 203-891-4784 to RSVP.

AARP Smart Driving Course
The next AARP driver’s rraining course will be Thursday, March 7. The cost of the course is $15 for AARP members and $20 for non-members. Call the senior center to sign up.

Movie of the Month
Join the Orange Senior Center March 8 for a showing of Bohemian Rhapsody at 1 p.m. The film stars Rami Malek in the story of legendary rock band Queen and their lead singer Freddie Mercury, leading up to their famous performance at Live Aid in 1985. Food that Helps Prevent Osteoporosis
Join the Orange Senior Center March 18 at 1 p.m. when Dr. Gregory Sabatino presents a wellness workshop on Foods that Help Prevent Osteoporosis. Call 203-891-4784 to RSVP.

Name that Tune

Documentary & Discussion
The Orange Senior Center will show We Steal Secrets: The Story of Wikileaks March 29 at 1 p.m. This documentary details the creation of Julian Assange’s website, which facilitated the largest security breach in U.S. history. Popcorn and soda will be served. Call 203-891-4784 to reserve a seat.

Intermediate Mac Computers – Learn from an Expert
Josh will teach a four-week intermediate Mac class on Thursdays from March 7 to 28 from 9 a.m. to 11a.m. The class fee is $20.

Intermediate iPhone with Josh
Josh will teach a four-week intermediate iPhone class on Wednesdays from March 6-27 from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. The class fee is $20.

Afternoon Fun
The senior center hosts arts and crafts on Mondays, Name 5 or Scattergories on Tuesdays, Mexican Train Dominos on Wednesdays, Bingo on Thursdays, and Scrabble on Fridays at 1 p.m. in the cafe.

Movie Club
The movie club discusses current movies playing locally, then meets to critique the film, discussing the script, acting, cinematography and directing. Meetings are held on the second Friday of the month at 3 p.m. in the town conference room at High Plains Community Center.

Hot Lunch
The Orange Senior Center offers a lunch Monday through Friday from 11:30 a.m. to noon. A $3 donation is suggested for persons 60 years and over. To register, call 203-891-4765 before 1 p.m. the previous day.

Rhythm of the Dance
The Orange Senior Center is hosting a trip to “Rhythm of the Dance” at the Westchester Theater March 12. After lunch, sit back and watch dancers, musicians, three Irish tenors and live performances from the entire troupe. The cost is $113 per person and includes transportation, lunch, show and driver gratuities. Full payment is due at reservation.

St. Patrick’s Day
The Orange Senior Center is holding a trip to St. Patrick’s Day at the Aqua Turf March 19. Enjoy live Irish entertainment by Padraig Allen and the Maclean Avenue Band. Enjoy an Irish lunch, including corned beef and cabbage, baked scrod and all the fixings. The cost is $82 per person and includes transportation, lunch, show and driver gratuities. Full payment is due at reservation.
