The Orange Community Services Department, through Orange Youth Services and Prevention, has announced the purchase of a LUCAS chest compression system for the Orange Police Department using opioid settlement funding.
The LUCAS device is a mechanical CPR system that delivers regular, guideline-consistent chest compressions during cardiac emergencies, allowing first responders to provide uninterrupted lifesaving care while safely transporting patients.
“While prevention remains a critical component of our work, it is equally important to invest in resources that strengthen our community’s ability to respond during medical emergencies,” said Chantelle Bunnell, Orange Youth Services and Prevention coordinator.
Orange Police Chief Robert Gagne welcomed the addition of the LUCAS device, noting that it will enhance officers’ and first responders’ ability to provide high-quality care during life-threatening emergencies.
