St. Barbara Offering “A Taste Of Greece”

Saint Barbara Greek Orthodox Church in Orange will be hosting its annual “Taste of Greece” cuisine event on Saturday, March 5 and Sunday March 6.

The takeout event will feature a broad selection of Greek cuisine, including Greek salad, spanakopita (spinach pie), gyro, chicken souvlaki in a pita, pork or chicken souvlaki dinner, a Greek-style lasagna called pastitsio, meze platter appetizers and a loukaniko/keftedes platter.

A number of Greek pastries will be on offer, including baklava (layers of nuts and filo drenched in syrup), revani (a moist almond and honey cake), kataifi (shredded filo and walnuts in syrup), galaktoboureko (custard in filo with honey), karithopita (a moist walnut cake) and portokalopita (a yogurt cake with filo, orange zest and cinnamon in honey).

There will also be 100 percent extra virgin Greek olive oil for sale.

Due to the continuing coronavirus pandemic, patrons will preorder and prepay for their food at odysseyexpress.org or by calling 203-795-1347. Pickup will be drive-through curbside at the church from noon to 7 p.m. Saturday and from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday. The church is located at 480 Racebrook Rd.
