The Woodbridge Town Library is celebrating its centennial with a roaring twenties-themed gala on Saturday, Oct. 17 from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the library.
Appetizers will include charcuterie provided by Chaplin in Shelton. Beer, wine and a signature cocktail will also be on offer in addition to nonalcoholic options. Each ticket entitles patrons to one free drink. The library will offer a selection of chocolates and cupcakes for dessert.
The library will be hosting live performers throughout the evening, including the jazz trio Sequel. There will be an open-air photo booth with props and a backdrop. The backdrop is large enough to accommodate an entire group in one shot. The booth is run by a professional attendant and will provide physical photo strips.
Elm City Swing and Blues, a non-competitive swing, blues and fusion dancing community based in New Haven, will be offering optional swing dancing lessons during the gala. In exchange for a small donation to help them preserve and promote the diverse history of swing, guests will have the opportunity to learn all the right moves from a group of passionate dancers.
All proceeds from ticket sales will support the library. Tickets are $75 apiece; the event is for adults 21 and older. Tickets are on sale in person at the library and at woodbridgetownlibrary.org. The library is located at 10 Newton Rd.
