Woodbridge resident and retired Stratford educator Garrett Stack will perform his show American Jukebox Live – Baby Boomer Classics at Bridgeport’s Bijou Theatre on Sunday, Oct. 11.
For the past 20 years Stack has hosted and produced his Saturday radio show called American Jukebox on WMNR-FM.
Stack dusted off his old guitar after retirement and in 2019 he set out on a lifelong dream to perform for adults in adult settings. He started playing condo communities and nursing homes. Since 2021 he’s booked into the Milford American Legion regularly. He has also performed at the North Haven Fair, summer concerts on the Woodbridge Green, private events and in the Catskills this summer.
Stack will present the music of the Baby Boom generation in a two-hour show at the Bijou. The live show is an offshoot of his radio program, except instead of playing records, he sings the songs with his guitars and uses additional electronic backing tracks.
The show covers rock & roll, pop, folk rock, country, soft rock – the stuff woven into the fabric of American culture of the late 50s, 60s and 70s. Examples include Elvis Presley, The Beatles, Carole King classics, Creedence, John Denver, The Eagles, Stevie Wonder, Willie Nelson and Johnny Cash.
The show begins at 4 p.m. The Bijou is located at 275 Fairfield Ave. For tickets and more information, go to bijoutheatrect.net.
